With the kids off school for the summer, Bolton’s cafés are buzzing – so it’s a busy time for Barbora Biela, the Manager at Caffé Dolce at Market Place. We catch up with Barbora to get the lowdown on her top menu picks and working her way up to the top…
What’s your role at Caffé Dolce?
I’m the Store Manager at Caffé Dolce, Bolton.
And how did you get your job at Caffé Dolce?
I started working for the company 11 years ago at our shop in Blackburn. I worked hard – doing everything from pot-washing to cooking – and worked my way up to my current position as Store Manager.
Describe a typical ‘day-in-the-life’?
Very busy and fast-paced, but enjoyable. We like to be busy!
What’s the best part of your day?
My favourite part of the day is seeing our regular customers.
What’s your favourite item on the menu at the moment?
It’s got to be the roast chicken and bacon salad.
What’s the naughtiest dish you sell?
All of our tempting cakes!
What is your mission for the café?
To look after all of our customers – so they become our regulars!
What is your top seller in Bolton?
The Full English – it’s delicious.
If someone was visiting Bolton for the first time and had a whole day to spare, what things would you recommend they see and do?
Bolton has lots to see and do, so I’d start off with breakfast at Caffé Dolce, then head over to Bolton Museum, Art Gallery and Aquarium. Lunch at Caffé Dolce (obviously) before hitting the shops and Bolton Market. Perhaps a meal in the Vaults in the evening and a film at the Light, or a game of adventure golf at Amazonia… Perfect!
