INTERVIEW WITH: Nicola Curnock
How long have you been working for Costa?
What is your typical day like?
Very busy! Interacting with customers, rotating staff so each individual doesn’t get bored, managing the store and, of course, making coffee!
What are you responsible for?
Everything from discrepancies, staff rotas, orders and deliveries to making coffee and keeping coffee lovers happy.
What do you like to do after work?
Sleep! But when I am in a routine I like to go to the gym.
What is the best part of your job?
Having such a fabulous team! Our team turnover is minimal and it’s like a great family unit, where we have really long serving members of staff still with us. I love our staff nights where we can really let our hair down and have fun together. We also have great incentives like Assistant Manager/ Barista Maestro monthly awards -where the winner receives gift vouchers as a prize – it’s great for motivation.
What is the worst part of your job?
I do not like doing paperwork but it’s part of the job. I am also not very good with technology.
What is the BEST thing about coffee?
We use 2 different coffee beans; Robusta and Arabica bean and when they are both blended together, it creates the perfect crème on top which makes the perfect coffee.
