We’ve got a treat in store for the art buffs of Bolton this week! Local artist Pete Marsh will be exhibiting on the upper ground mall in Market Place from Saturday 5th March to Sunday 13th March.
The exhibition titled ‘Night and Day’ showcases his figurative work inspired by live music performance and landscape work largely influenced by the countryside of the North West.
Pete started his working life as stage crew in Manchester and various other venues across the UK, which is where his interest in music and live performance was ignited – taking great interest in the mood and atmosphere of performance, which he now carries through into his work. His work in general is perceptual rather than conceptual, emotional rather than intellectual and he prefers expression over realism, subtlety over sensationalism, substance over novelty and intuition over reason. He endeavours to express something beyond realism.
So, whether you’re a seasoned art buff or looking to satisfy your creative streak, his work is certainly worth a peek!
